Enough Good News (Good News Series Book 1)
Most things used to be worse. This tendency to misremember is compounded by the never-ending negative news from across the world. Stories about gradual improvements rarely make the front page even when they occur on a dramatic scale and affect millions of people. And thanks to increasing press freedom and improving technology, we hear about more disasters than ever before. This improved reporting is itself a sign of human progress, but it creates the impression of the exact opposite.
Whether we want to hear the positive or the negative first says a lot about us.
At the same time, activists and lobbyists manage to make every dip in an improving trend appear to be the end of the world, scaring us with alarmist exaggerations and prophecies. In the United States, the violent crime rate has been falling since But each time something horrific or shocking happened — pretty much every year — a crisis was reported.
The majority of people believe that violent crime is getting worse. My guess is you feel that me saying that the world is getting better is like me telling you that everything is fine, and that feels ridiculous. Everything is not fine. We should still be very concerned. As long as there are plane crashes, preventable child deaths, endangered species, climate change sceptics, male chauvinists, crazy dictators, toxic waste, journalists in prison, and girls not getting an education, we cannot relax.
But it is just as ridiculous to look away from the progress that has been made.
Why Hearing Good News or Bad News First Really Matters | Psychology Today
The consequent loss of hope can be devastating. When people wrongly believe that nothing is improving, they may lose confidence in measures that actually work. How can we help our brains to realise that things are getting better? Think of the world as a very sick premature baby in an incubator. After a week, she is improving, but she has to stay in the incubator because her health is still critical. Does it make sense to say it is bad? That is how we must think about the current state of the world. When women are educated, the workforce becomes diversified and able to make better decisions.
Educated mothers have fewer children, and more survive. Remember that the media and activists rely on drama to grab your attention; that negative stories are more dramatic than positive ones; and how simple it is to construct a story of crisis from a temporary dip pulled out of its context of a long-term improvement. When you hear about something terrible, calm yourself by asking: Even if there had been hundreds of larger improvements, would I have heard? Start to practise it, and you will make better decisions, stay alert to real dangers and possibilities, and avoid being constantly stressed about the wrong things.

Sidney and Sidra's relationship develops since Sidra took the case against superstar Mocha--abuse is real. If you like Christian romance, relational books, with a promising godlike relationship such as courting Discovered there are several books in the series written, published, and a couple ready to be done. Jan 08, Lashonja rated it it was amazing. In "Good Enough" Sidra and brother Mike find out they have a sister, Sidney, who they never knew existed and meeting her brings about drama like no one is ready for.
Good news at last: the world isn’t as horrific as you think
Ultimately they develop faith in both family connections and God. The only question left is "How many Sid's are there?
We could all use some good news, right? Well, the title is a little misleading,so after reading the f In "Good Enough" Sidra and brother Mike find out they have a sister, Sidney, who they never knew existed and meeting her brings about drama like no one is ready for. Well, the title is a little misleading,so after reading the first book I immediately went on to the second book in the series, then I moved on to the third book.
Finally I decided to slow down and write a review before moving on to the fourth book of the series. Audrey McKay did her thing with this series. Some of the information is a little much to handle like just happening to find a long lost sister who is a lawyer just when you need one , but the way the story was presented there was a lot of room for thought and consideration.
This is just one of the ways that the author forced the reader to think about the power of faith and the distance God and family will go through for the ones they love. This story is entertaining in itself and will keep any reader engaged, but for those with a knowledge of God, this story really makes one think of the possiilites. For those who beleive this story will enchant you. For those who don't beleive, look at this as a good fantasy and read it anyway.
You will not be disappointed. McKay took a gracious approach in presenting the clandestine, behind-close-doors behavior of a seemingly respectable but absent father. Although daughter Sidra had little contact with her father, she believed that he was a great and outstanding man. But when she learned of his surreptitious affairs while married to her mother, she experienced great emotional and behavioral changes.
Of course, when meeting her father after many years and learning of his intimate affairs, she discovered that she had a sister named Sidney. Not knowing of each other during their childhood, both Sidra and Sidney experienced exciting and strange turns getting to know each other and themselves. It is a good-read.
