The man is Kory Vansant aka Kory Kent. Unfortunately, Darryl ends up playing a significant role in trying to break the two up, and he nearly succeeds. True love wins in the end, however, as I certainly hoped it would. PS - This is first in a series. I can't wait to see who will be in the next story. There were a couple of minor characters in this one who may be back. I will definitely be continuing to read this author's work.

Apr 06, Penumbra rated it really liked it Shelves: This book is told in third person through the eyes of Kory Vansant and Will Squire. Kory Vansant aka Kory Kent, is a heart recipient and ex-porn star. He was born with a congenital heart defect and at any moment could drop dead. Kory got his wish and received the heart of a high school football player. Will Squire is a mortician and paramedic.
He and his partner happened to be the ones to arrive on the scene when the heart donor collapses. Basically Will put Darryl on a pedestal and it took the breakup and the arrival of Kory for him to realize what a jerk Darryl was. Both men are skittish about revealing their past history to the other, believing the other will find them disgusting. It turns out Darryl has a hand in the revelation of their pasts and Will and Kory have to face what they refused to talk about. Since Will was a mortician and Kory a heart recipient, this book had the specter of death hovering throughout it.
I prefer light and happy books or adventure books. I skip books with horror and depressing themes, but I decided to read this anyway. I had to put it down frequently because the overhanging cloud of death was depressing. The story was surprisingly romantic however, and the way the relationship and romance unfolded was realistic to me and just how I like to read them.
I liked the characters and found both unique, especially Kory. Overall I enjoyed this book and would recommend it to others. I'll most likely read the other books in the series. I give this story 4.

Kimber strikes gold again. I loved other books I read from her, and this was no exception. Will is a mortician working at his uncle's funeral home, who also works part time as an EMT. Will is dumped by his jerk "boyfriend" at the beginning of the book. One night while working his EMT shift, he gets called to the high school football field where a player collapsed. Brandon ends up not making it and is an organ donor. Will is very affected by the death of this young guy, especially after he also assists with the funeral. Kory is a former porn star who had had a bad heart and required a transplant. He ends up moving from California to New Jersey when he gets the call that there is a heart for him.
He had prayed and promised that he would leave his past behind him and make his life better if he got a second chance. Kory has a few moments where he has to determine exactly what this means for him does it mean no more porn? Will meets Kory at the cemetery where both guys are visiting Brandon's grave. There is an immediate attraction between them. They form a friendship that eventually leads to a lot more. The story between the guys is sweet. Kory has never had a boyfriend before and Will has been burned in the past, so it starts slow and progresses conservatively, which I think helped them grow closer.
They seem to be on the same page throughout the whole book and it was adorable. Of course there has to be drama. Will's jerk ex knows Kory is a porn star and gets mad when Kory doesn't want to hook up with him. Then he tries to get Will back and is very threatening. He is the ultimate jerk. I could have lived with out Darryl in the book, but I think it was important for the guys to finally get to deeper truths with each other, and Darryl helped them get there.
Sorry, did I say that already? I wouldn't mind getting a short down the road to see their happiness. Oct 12, Donna rated it really liked it Shelves: The joys of childbirth, the tears of a man or woman struck down in their youth Let me just say this was a wonderful story This story will touch many people in many ways Will and Kory have their own fears when it comes to their relationship And whoever told you 'love' was easy?
They lied to you Right' can be hard, when you have 'Mr. Right Now' hanging around Right Now' was for you! The writing was excellent and as the second book from this author that I have read, I promise that I will be reading many more of her stories in the future!
Vale presented and dealt with issues that some of us find ourselves shying away from at one time or another Looking forward to seeing where she goes from here with the series I'm disappointed in this book. The blurb painted different picture to me. For the first half of the book it was all morose. The two mc's in my opinion were better off as friends by the way the first half went. I was tired of reading about death. I understand what both mc's went through but it's only so many times we can read through the glum and doom section of Home Depot darling.
I think Kory needed a kick in the butt big time. He is rewarded with a second chance at life and it's like he was wa I'm disappointed in this book. He is rewarded with a second chance at life and it's like he was waiting on something to happen for him instead of going out and getting what you wanted. As usual boy meets boy, boy doesn't mention the "big lie", boy finds out, boy leaves, boys come back together. Nothing spectacular about the story at all, but it was certain areas that I did like.
I got tired of Will self esteem issues, but I do blame him because he allowed himself to be in a situation like he was in for a year.
You can't get mad at anyone, or play victim. Own up to your ish that's all. I like how he was able to have a little more confidence by the end of the book. Kory did better as well. I don't know if I think they should be together. Honestly I skimmed over the smexy scenes because they were predictable. Jul 26, MiMi Rae rated it liked it. There were lots of pieces. Don't get me wrong they were almost all good. I just feel like some of them were not given the time on the page they deserved cuz there was already so much going on. Side note hypocrisy - it would be interesting to meet the other recipients of Brandon's organs since they made such a big deal of the family meeting Kory.
The research was well done with all facts and jobs fleshed heh out well.
Kory's art was well developed and believable. I loved that they each had a story that went with the rain picture.

All in all I liked these guys, they were both good guys though not always consistent. I would definitely be interested in seeing Matt get his HEA. May 08, Anita rated it really liked it Shelves: I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
And I thank the author so much for that opportunity. The two MCs just reached out to grab me. A slow burn friends to lovers romance about two damaged by life guys that hit all my buttons. Kory and Will are perfect together. Beautiful wri I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.
Beautiful writing, snarky dialogue and some hot man love coupled with kick ass secondary characters that just add some wonderful depth to this romance. It's clear that the author has some medical training - she throws around medical terms that don't always fit the setting. But still the love that develops just made me melt. It could have been predictable but the book took a turn that I so appreciated. There was a melancholy like sweetness to the vibe i was getting from the book that struck just the right note.

Really good book, I know for sure I'll be reading more by this author. One person found this helpful. This was my first book by this author but definitely not the last. Sweet, sexy, a little sad, but a great read! I totally recommend it!! Go ahead and buy it!! You won't regret it. A well written story line that starts with loss and tears and ends with the HEA so many of us look for in a romance. A couple of interesting, not-your-average-Joe main characters and good character development bring the story together.

Amazon Music Stream millions of songs. Worth the wait I wait almost a year and other E half for the last of these two books. It was well worth the wait. The first thing that grabbed me about this series from the beginning was the inclusion of mental health issues. It was a focus to the end and it was great. Then you included mystery, family squabbles and fueding along with love and one asshat billionaire, and you have a hit!
Jul 28, Renee Lacy rated it it was amazing. As always hard to put down!!! Absolutely love Ellie Danes work What a great author!!!! Nov 28, Pontiki rated it it was ok. I didn't mind this series, but the melodrama of the families was a bit too over the top. Kate, who was supposed to be a teacher, seems to have no idea how to manage with her sister, Claire, who has learning issues. The author throws out a bunch of labels for Claire, but they don't make sense, nor does Kate's approach to the situation.
She's supposed to be strong, but never really confronts her Dad on his lack of parenting for Claire. Ian is more believable as confused because he's grieving his father's death, and he's not used to expressing his feelings.
But, he too makes mistakes along their stormy relationship. The end is fine, but this could have likely been written in one book, not 3. Also, the editing in the last instalment is atrocious, so much so it became distracting to read. I gave this writer a chance, won't be looking for any more of these billionaire books. Dec 01, suzanne menees rated it really liked it. I have mixed feelings about this one. There was a good story here, it's just that it got lost. Kate and Ian were solid characters, but the "thoughts" and descriptions were so long that I lost the conversations.
It's too bad, really because the base was good. Nov 25, Cassandra Hall rated it it was amazing. Good storyline and I love a happy ending!!! Only complaint is there could have been more about her sister in the end. She was a big part and then just Lind of disappeared. Dec 03, Jennifer L rated it really liked it.
This had two of my favorite things: I thought the book was funny in some situations, but it also brought the issue of mental illness to the forefront.
