Then instead of acting suitably repentant and worm-like when he received her payback for his time and 'effort', he gets all irked and angry that she felt his rantings on how much he spent on her to be demeaning and sent him monetary redress to at least resolve that shameful behavior display he emoted at the top of his lungs. Tho a small smack with the skillet to the h here as well, she should have at least saved enough for her bus ticket out of town from her repayment of the H's skills in bed and money spent on her, she could have mailed him a money order for the remainder later.
There should be no redemption or reward from such callous and cruel acts that this male lead perpetrated. Especially since his previous shag piece woman who caused all this drama lost her entire life and identity and he was the one who like her skills in bed so much he kept going on with her, even at the cost of his better judgment. While it was nice to see a wrong doer punished, the H's manipulations for his ex's punishment were beyond extreme and in reality, the H's actions were worse, yet he manages to bully and manipulate until he gets what he wants and suffers no consequences for his arguably greater wrong.
I don't care so much that the h forgave him, she was that kind of girl, but I bitterly and fiercely resent that this h is now stuck with a sewer blob fish pustule for the remainder of this series and that even people who claimed to care about her were happy to keep her metaphorically in a dark closet and continue feeding her fertilizer.
I was NOT feeling the love on this one and that is probably a just punishment for not listening to my friends and rubbernecking this one anyway. Jul 19, Janie rated it liked it. Ok so I didn't really like this and I didn't hate it. It was just ok for me. Parts of it I really liked. In the beginning there's a fire that breaks out at an office party where the h works and the H is there with his current gf that also works there.
Now the H is a Navy Seal right? He and the h meet at the buffet table prior to the fire breaking out and he feels a very strong connection to her. He goes back to sit with the gf that he is planning on breaking u 2. He goes back to sit with the gf that he is planning on breaking up with later that day.
He grabs his gf and goes to a corner by the front door, covers her with his shirt and jacket and throws his body over her to protect her. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying he shouldn't protect her. What I'm getting at is that while he's doing this, the h knows of a second exit and is getting as many people to safety as she can at the risk of her own life and all she can think about is getting to the H to save him as well while he's cowering in the corner protecting ONE PERSON!!!
That does not scream SEAL to me, sorry. Anyways, the h lived a very terrible and abusive childhood. The H and h do get together, fall in love, yada, yada, yada. Then something happens where the h really needs the H to be there for her which mind you, she's never had in her life , and what does he do? Throws her love in her face in one of the worst ways he could've not cheating. Do they get their HEA? Does she make him grovel? Does he feel terrible for what he did? But from his actions during the fire to this, there was just no redemption for him in my eyes.
This is just my opinion. Others may love this story but when I think of Seals, I think hero. Not someone cowering in the corner while a young woman with no training is saving people's lives. Sorry this is so ranty. View all 12 comments. Dec 04, Wendy rated it liked it Shelves: This was an oke read for me. I felt it was a bit too heavy on the insta-love and a bit too cheesy. Also the alpha is this one is a major asshole at one point and if I were the heroine, I would have never forgiven him!! I'm rounding up, because the heroine was pretty sweet, eventhough she was too forgiving in my opinion.
At least she did make him grovel a bit. View all 3 comments. Oct 13, Amy rated it it was amazing Shelves: Stoker gets darker and more emotional. Alabama Ford Smith, the leading lady in this romantic drama has had to deal with physical abuse for most of her life. Alabama survived, and because of the abuse, she is hesitant to let people close.

Watching them fall in love has him thinking about how much he wants that. His past has left him with a bad taste in his mouth for anyone that lies, cheats and steals.
This is one of the major reasons he hasn't been in any lasting relationships. Fate and a fire, bring Alabama and Abe together. He likes her because she is different, shy and reserved. This is good for them both, until someone decides they really shouldn't be together… Taking a ticket on the roller coaster that Ms.
Stoker creates with her writing style, is the ultimate for any book lover. She draws you in and keeps you on your toes. There is love, suspense, action and for me, tissues and crying. With smoking hot alpha men and leading ladies you want to be, you have to pick this read up. It will capture your heart and take you for an emotional ride over and over again.
This is my go to action, suspense, and romantic series. They are well worth it. Apr 03, DemetraP rated it did not like it. I had a really hard time with a bunch of plot points in this book. The hero has been dating the heroine for months, spending almost every evening with her, and tells her he loves her. He brings her to meet his family.
Yet, the moment she is accused of stealing at her job she's a janitor he accuses her of being a liar and dumps her. I felt like the author threw it in there for some drama.
It was also nuts that the hero's friends take turns "protecting her" after they find her I had a really hard time with a bunch of plot points in this book. What did she need protecting from? It didn't make any sense. I also felt like the heroine forgave the hero way too easily. I'm going to keep reading the series because I want to see some of the other SEALs on the team find a girl. But don't bother reading this book. Nov 29, Emily rated it really liked it Shelves: Navy Seal Christopher "Abe" Powers wants what his friend has, finding the girl who is meant to be his.
Abe has had his fair share of relationships but it never just clicked until he meets Alabama Smith. Every instinct he has wants to protect Alabama, he knows she has a broken soul and he wants to help find a way to let her heal. For the first time in Alabama's life she trusts someone, Christopher.
She feels protected, adored, and finally accepted. As they begin something special together an outsi Navy Seal Christopher "Abe" Powers wants what his friend has, finding the girl who is meant to be his. As they begin something special together an outside influence is determined to destroy the bond they have created. Spectacular read, I became so invested in Alabama. Alabama doesn't see how strong she really is, Abe is wonderful and so delicate with Alabama.
I look forward to the next book in series. Dec 30, Laura rated it it was ok. I did finish this book but wanted to freaking punch the "hero" in every chapter. His behavior throughout the entire story was stalker-scary. I get that he was hot, but even a magic dick wouldn't be enough for me to stay with him. He keeps a key to her house without permission. He leaves her in freaking jail. He tells her he doesn't need a condom even though he's sexually active with multiple partners.
He sleeps outside in the driveway of the friend's house he's staying at multiple night I did finish this book but wanted to freaking punch the "hero" in every chapter. He sleeps outside in the driveway of the friend's house he's staying at multiple nights. He gets dangerously angry when a person accidentally drops a cup and some liquid spills on her shoe.
I also think that Alabama's personal issues were such that they weren't appropriate to be resolved in a novella length novel. Feb 25, Megan Fall rated it it was amazing Shelves: Wow, what an amazing book.

I am so glad that I discovered this series. This is the second book, and even though it wasn't as action packed as the first, it was still a great read. I was thrilled to see Matthew was a pretty main character as well. I really can't wait to start the third book!! Mar 06, CC rated it liked it Shelves: I could not get past it. I just can't get enough. I absolutely devoured this book and could not put it down until I was finished. Alabama has lead a tough and lonely life. Suffering terrible abuse at her mothers hands her whole life until she was finally put into foster care as a teenager 5 Just Keeps Getting Better Stars!
Suffering terrible abuse at her mothers hands her whole life until she was finally put into foster care as a teenager until she was old enough to leave on her own. Bullied at school and ignored as an adult Alabama is all alone. With no family and no friends, she relies on no one but herself. Working as a janitor at a real estate agency she does her best to keep to herself and do her job. From the moment she could talk her mother would tell her to shut up and would brutally punish her. She is left with huge emotional scars that have left her socially awkward, so having to attend the agency's pot luck party is her idea of torture.
Adept at going unnoticed, Alabama is shocked when the only person that pays her any notice is by far the most gorgeous man she has ever seen - Christopher 'Abe' Powers, who also happens to be the office bitch, Adelaide's boyfriend. After a short conversation Alabama can't help but notice how kind Abe is and wonders how on earth he could be with someone as nasty as Adelaide.
She is confused by her reaction to him, she is enjoying talking to him but it also terrifies her, so she makes a quick get away. Attending this party with Adelaide has left Abe feeling like nothing more than arm candy. She doesn't care about him or what he thinks, he isn't stupid she just wants to show off her 'Navy Seal' boyfriend. She is shallow and self absorbed and he knows its past time to break things off but he will continue to be a gentleman until this torturous night is over.
What he wasn't expecting was the timid little beauty he met in the food line. She was gorgeous, shy and completely intriguing. Abe found himself wanting to know her but before he could get much out of her she made hasty exit. The beauty was still on his mind when the fire alarms started blaring and the sprinklers started saturating everyone. Without a second thought Abe threw his jacket around Adelaide and began to hastily look for an exit.
Alabama watched in horror as the dangerous smoke increased and the masses of people converged on the one exit in the room trampling people in their wake. Having cleaned this building every day she knew there was another exit just off the room, instead of running and saving herself she begins herding people toward the other door when she sees Abe and Adelaide huddled in corner, making a beeline for them she realise Abe is hurt. After some quick thinking she helps him and leads Abe, Adelaide and some others to safety. Once outside and after ensuring he is ok, Alabama quietly slips away and heads home.
Surprised Alabama managed to evade him again, Abe finds himself becoming consumed by her.
He wants to know this courageous, shy and sweet woman. He embarks on a mission to pursue her and get to know her no matter how hard she resists. I loved this story. It wreaked havoc on my emotions, I laughed, I cried, I swooned, I got frustrated and I fell completely in love. Alabama was such a genuinely kind person with a heart of gold. How she managed to retain a sweetness after all she endured was a miracle and I adored her.
Her strength, her bravery and her ability forgive were just so endearing. Abe was an alpha hottie. He was brave, loyal, protective, sweet and possessive. He was so loving and supportive with Alabama, he took the time to truly understand her and never pushed her for more then she was ready to give. My heart absolutely broke when Abe messed up i feel the need to disclose that no, he did not cheat it was something else and the pain it caused both of them was horrible.
But seeing him fight for her and never stop trying to earn her forgiveness and regain her trust put it back together again.

These two were absolutely adorable and I loved their story. I cannot wait to read Knox's book next! Oct 13, Vandana Rampersad rated it it was amazing. This is an absolute must read! First thing I n Whenever you start the first book in a new series and end up loving it, the feeling of anticipation you have wanting to get your hands on the second book is as quickly as possible is what follows. Forgive me as this is a huge pet peeve of mine. Anyways, back to the review. Where the first book had action and suspense, the latest installment had none. Talk about being predictable and so over-the-top. My problem was with the execution of everything that took place. None of it was fully developed, instead only wrapped up as quickly as possible.
I hope this make sense.

I will give the author marks when it came to Christopher and Alabama reuniting in the end. I still hate the name Alabama. Dec 09, Darcy rated it it was amazing Shelves: I liked the first book in this series, but this one blew me away and it was all due to Alabama. There was something about her that made me like her from the start, it made me want to protect her, to help her, but mostly I wanted to be her friend. With Alabama's past she could have turned out to be a whole different person, a mean one, instead Alabama was kind and looked out for everyone.
I loved seeing Alabama come out of her shell. With each kind act, word and gesture Alabama grew more into the I liked the first book in this series, but this one blew me away and it was all due to Alabama. With each kind act, word and gesture Alabama grew more into the person she was meant to be. I knew at some point Christopher would screw up things and boy did he in a big way.
Even though I knew this was coming I hated him as it happened, hated him after. I loved how all of Alabama's new friends were there to support her and ripped Christopher a new one, he deserved it. He also deserved the brutal letter that Alabama wrote him, he needed to know how deep that hurt went for her. With that being said, I did love that Alabama gave Christopher a second chance, that it didn't happen over night, but was hard won, like it should have been.
Even better was when Christopher stood up for Alabama in a big way. Nov 03, Denise H. Christopher and Alabama, wow!!

This book is about the Seal team, but is very different than the first. We get to see the team members and how Matthew and Caroline are doing. Alabama is a sweetie with a horrible childhood. She has learned that she can only trust herself. She meets Christopher, "Abe", and he's so wonderful. She hopes it isn't too good to be true. When the time comes for him to stand by her, he lets her down, big time.
The agony she felt was so real, and his agony of being a first class idiot, too. Time and patience are in order. The team is there to help her, and to help Abe. Their true love is deeper than the hurt. Deeply moving, emotional characters. The couple each has their struggle to overcome. Interesting tale of anguish, and sorrow for her childhood, and survival. This is a truly stunning story. Jan 03, Dr. D of Smutology rated it really liked it Shelves: I cried my ass off. It's a little hard to rate this one because I felt a real connection with Alabama and was so respectful of her as a character.
She managed to come out of a crappy childhood with her heart intact. It felt like the 'niceness' was a little unrealistic but that might be more about me than her as a character. We didn't get nearly as much development of Christopher though I felt the regret and anguish after the betrayal. It felt pretty unbalanced though I know we were only just Wow! It felt pretty unbalanced though I know we were only just being introduced to Alabama while the previous instalment gave us some insight into Christopher.
